At Oasis our mission is to help transform the communities in which we serve through our commitment to inclusion, social integration and closing the disadvantage gap. The COVID-19 pandemic has undoubtedly increased unemployment rates amongst young people, and has had immeasurable effects on employment rates within marginalised communities. Kickstart is a scheme that has the potential to make a difference to the lives of young people who are at risk of long-term unemployment and is very much in keeping with our ethos and values.

The Kickstart Scheme is an exciting Government initiative intended to create new 6-month job placements for 16 to 24 year olds who are on Universal Credit, with the aim of building their skills in the workplace to increase their future employment prospects.

Under the scheme, young people employed with us will work an average of 25 hours per week and will be paid the National minimum wage (or national living wage if applicable) for their age group.

All those who join Oasis through the Kickstart scheme will be provided with:

Application process

The Kickstart recruitment process relies on the DWP Job Centres to match suitable candidates to our roles which appear on the universal credit computer system. To apply, young people simply have to message their work coach and ask to be referred to the scheme.

Candidates will then be provided with more information about the progamme from their work coach and from there they can choose to proceed with their application by sending in their CV to Keren.ojo@oasiuk.org, and by competing a short application form.Completed application forms are then sent to academies for shortlisting.
