News from the Food Dept...

Recently the School of Food visited the Food department, they met with some Year 9 and 10 Catering students who are interested in a career in hospitality and catering. Some Year 8 students who are thinking of taking Hospitality and Catering as an option also came along. Brian Howe who is part of School of Food came along and delivered an enthusiastic and engaging talk on what they have to offer Post 16. The School of Food is the brainchild of Michelin-starred chef, Josh Eggleton and Best Ambassador for Food Winner Adrian Kirikmaa (who is in fact my old (Ms Booker's) Head chef). The two highly experienced chefs have joined forces with Weston College, Ashton Gate Stadium and St Katherine's School to develop a unique training programme that give young people access to high quality kitchens, industry experts and invaluable insights.  They help you find an employer who will provide you with an income and a team in which you learn the majority of your training.  You will then spend one day a week in one of our centres learning the essentials to become a chef. The training programme has a practical focus and unique access to catering professionals which ensure the apprentices have the best foundations for their future careers.
