Some examples of partnerships
KPMG Bristol has supported Oasis Academy Brightstowe by organising various events including Year 7 Bright Day, Year 9 Dragon's Den and Year 10 Mock Interview Day. KPMG is a professional service company with around 200,000 members of staff in offices all around the world. KPMG is a global company which takes its social responsibility very seriously.
The Western Outreach Network (WON) is a partnership of eight universities and higher education Colleges working with schools in the West of England. WON provides workshops for schools which are aimed at increasing the awareness of all higher education routes and pathways. In 2017/2018 WON worked with all of our Year 8, Year 9 and Year 10 students.
Recently, Alex Richards of Western Training Providers has been working with Brightstowe and has been offering bespoke training to our Year 11 students who are interested in apprenticeships.
Grofar is our most recent partnership and is supporting us with our careers education. Grofar is a complete toolkit and is used to support our careers service delivery. This comprehensive tool enables career leads to record and measure the impact of the careers programme whilst on the other hand it enables students to set their career goals, record all of their career activities, give feedback and research job sectors. Grofar provides continuous professional development for tutors, career leads and careers advisors. It also supports students in class to navigate around their action plans and supports the Careers Lead with impact analysis.
South Bristol Youth is a charity which provides a variety of opportunities for young people in the South of Bristol. South Bristol Youth run different projects throughout the year, which enables students to experience work environments, universities and higher education colleges in order to inspire them to aim high for their future careers.
The Unlocking Potential programme aims is to increase the speaking and listening skills of a select group of students. Students on the programme engage in a variety of exciting, enjoyable and engaging activities along with visits to the Bristol Old Vic, The Watershed, Bristol Zoo, Barton Camp and Mshed. Added together, this makes this programme an unforgettable experience for students.
The Future Quest Programme is aimed at students who are thinking of attending university after completing their A Levels. Students in years 9, 10 and 11 benefit greatly from this programme as they visit various universities and take part in numerous activities throughout the year to improve their skills set for higher education. In Year 11, students also work with a mentor throughout the year to support their studies and help them with their future career choices.
Skills Builder is another partnership who are supporting us with employability skills.
Wilmottdixon is another of our most recent partnerships. In the 2019-2020 they supported our year 10s with their mock interviews. Willmott Dixon is a privately-owned contracting and interior fit-out group. Founded in 1852, they are dedicated to leaving a positive legacy in our communities and environment and in 2018 were one of only six companies to receive a Queen's Award for Enterprise in the promoting opportunity through social mobility category.
