Our Music Academy has been developed in order to be a centre of excellence for music that raises the aspirations, improves motivation and self-esteem and increases outcomes for students.
Music education is important in that it provides students with opportunities to think imaginatively and creatively using a variety of skills that they would not otherwise engage elsewhere. Young people strongly identify with music, often embracing it as part of their social identity. At Brightstowe we seek to nurture this interest and help them develop as confident individuals with a high level of dedication to their musical study.
We believe that music is an essential part of a varied curriculum and that through it every student is capable of developing confidence, a positive well-being and a belief that they can achieve success. By developing an outstanding supplementary programme of musical study we are enabling those that are most dedicated the opportunity to take their talent to the next level.
The Music Academy has been set up to support students who demonstrate this strong commitment to excellence in order to help them develop their talents. It exists not only to help provide dedicated tuition but to facilitate opportunities to showcase their abilities in a variety of performance situations.
There are many opportunities to become involved in music and performing arts at Brightstowe and anyone who has participated will attest to the challenge involved and the serious commitment required in order to succeed and achieve.
