Here at Oasis Academy Brightstowe we believe that the ethos of a family group is essential to develop every aspect of an individual’s character whilst ensuring family values are at the heart of everything we do.
To support this, each child is placed in to a house group when they join us, Kilimanjaro, McKinley or Everest. Each house group is led by a Head of House who is supported by a non-teaching House Intervention manager. Their role is to oversee all aspects of pastoral care including academic achievement, well-being, attendance and safeguarding.
Within the house group they are placed in a family group, led by a tutor. Each family group will have a maximum of 16 students and will be based on a ‘vertical’ grouping system, so each family groups consists of students from years 7-10.
Year 11’s have a separate tutoring system led by a Head of year 11 and a CEIAG co-ordinator. This has been specifically designed to support each individual year 11 student to focus on their academic and pastoral needs and also their future destinations in to post 16 education or training.
