Oasis Academy

Welcome to Oasis Academy Brightstowe.

Having been the Headteacher of the predecessor school, I was delighted to be appointed to the position of Principal of our Academy. The ability to move from school improvement to transformation is a privilege which will secure for our community the finest educational opportunities. Prior to my arrival in Bristol, I held Headships in Suffolk and Gloucestershire and also served as an Ofsted Inspector.

As a member of a global organisation – Oasis – the Academy will provide unique possibilities for both our young people and our wider community. We will have the benefit of working in partnership with, and learning from, other schools and organisations in the Oasis family across five continents, as well as those locally.

Academies are new, publicly funded, all ability independent schools, introduced by the Government in 2000. As an Academy we will have the freedom to deliver a learning experience which is innovative, challenging and responsive to the needs of individuals. Students will experience a curriculum which enables them to develop the skills and competencies they need to support learning in different contexts, to build confidence and to secure qualifications at a suitable level.

Oasis Academy Brightstowe will offer young people excellent educational facilities, a well structured learning environment, effective and enthusiastic staff and clear guidance. Personalised learning will be achieved through selecting an appropriate curriculum for each student. Students will be expected to continually progress in their learning and will be supported to know how best to do so. Learning enrichment and enhancement opportunities will be a feature of every school day.

As we develop together, our vision is to provide challenges for our young people, to support them as they develop independence and to equip them for a fulfilling life both as an individual and as a member of the local, national and international community.
