In 2009, Oasis Academy Brightstowe celebrated a huge increase in the amount of students achieving 5 or more A*-C grade GCSE's in the biggest improvement in exam results ever.
In its first year as an independent Academy, Oasis Academy Brightstowe saw 58% of its students passing 5 or more GCSE's with A*-C grades. This represents a 66% rate of improvement and should be seen against a target of 35%.
The provisional figure for the number of students achieving 5 A*-C grades including English and maths is currently 21%. In response to this, the Academy is investigating English outcomes, whilst numbers of students reaching A*-C passes in maths have notably increased.
Principal Julie Winterman said: "We are very pleased that the number of students achieving 5 or more good GCSE passes has risen so significantly. All their hard work has paid off and we hope that they will go on to have a successful future."
