New Principal appointed for Oasis Academy Brightstowe

Oasis Community Learning is pleased to announce the appointment of Matthew Butler as Principal of Oasis Academy Brightstowe, following a rigorous and lengthy interview process.

The appointment of Mr Butler, who is currently Vice Principal at the Pimlico Academy in London, comes on the back of Julie Winterman’s announcement of her retirement which is due to commence at the end of the summer (please see here for the article).

Steve Chalke, Founder and CEO of Oasis Community Learning is confident Mr Butler is the right person to lead the Academy: “Matthew has been an exceptional Vice Principal and comes to Oasis with a proven track record and an outstanding reputation in team building, raising attainment and achievement in a variety of schools. He has helped guide his current school from strength to strength. In short, I am convinced that Matthew has the leadership skills, clarity of vision, educational strength and commitment to Oasis’ ethos that will enable him to continue shaping the growth and success of Oasis Academy Brightstowe and the students in our care.”

As well as his teaching career so far, Mr Butler has a background in high-profile positions in business and finance. Matthew entered the teaching profession coming through the prestigious Future Leaders programme. Since taking up his post at the Pimlico Academy, he has been an integral part of a leadership team which has turned a school in special measures into an Academy making rapid improvements, including a steady rise in exam results. The rate of progress has since led Ofsted to judge the leadership team at the Academy as outstanding.

Mr Butler will take up his position at the Brightstowe Academy in September 2010, and is excited by the future opportunity available for all in the area. Mr Butler said, “I can’t wait to begin working alongside the students and staff at the Academy, as well as all those in the local community. I truly believe that Oasis Academy Brightstowe has massive positive potential, and as it already offers so much to all in the area, we can expect increasingly great things over the coming months and years. The vision and ethos that underpin Oasis Community Learning, and subsequently the Academy, is exciting and refreshing and also resonates with my personal vision and ethos for my current school as well as my own life. I have often argued that schools must become the hubs of their local community and I hope to play my part in this growth and am looking forward to meeting the Academy community in the near future.”

Aye mate! And welcome to limbo! Problem: I have no idea what page you're trying to work on. You need to define a body ID in the template, then turn on the necessary rows and columns in layout.css. Arrrrgh!
