Reece Beeton and Georgina Reid, Year 9, are part of a growing number of capable students at the Academy who are being put forward to take a selection of their GCSE examinations up to two years in advance.
The Academy provided a programme of revision support and each student received an individual learning plan to ensure that they could keep up with their work in other subject areas whilst preparing for the early GCSE’s.
Reece sat both higher level maths and science examinations this summer and felt they went well. He said: “Being put forward to take my exams early made me feel good because the teachers here obviously have faith in me.
Georgina took higher level maths, science and English Literature and is on course for good grades. She said: “It felt really good to be able to do some of my exams early and we had lots of help preparing so I wasn’t too worried. I hope that I will have done well because I would like to be a lawyer when I leave school.”
Principal Julie Winterman said: “We are immensely proud to have such gifted students. The Academy is committed to making learning personal for each young person and we know that individuals are ready to move on at different times.
“We are keen to celebrate talent and the Academy has worked hard to ensure that all early entry exam takers have been properly supported.”
