“I started my GCSE revision in February half term. I remember thinking in September that we had all the time in the world but was surprised how fast the weeks went by and wanted a head start!
“To help me understand what I needed to do to get the grades I wanted, I had academic mentoring sessions with Principal Julie Winterman to review my progress.
“I knew I struggled with Maths, and so the Academy gave me an individual learning pack which came with an action plan, telling me what I needed to do to improve.
“I also started using the Academy’s Learning Café to revise after-school and attended English and maths revision sessions. These have really helped me stay focussed, especially over the half-term holidays in preparation for the maths exam which was on the first day back.
“I want to get on an apprenticeship scheme to become a multi-skilled engineer. I’ve been going for interviews to try and get a work placement and I’ll get my engineering qualifications at college.”
