In November 2011 Oasis Academy Brightstowe held a Careers Fair for Years 10 and 11. The students were encouraged to talk with and pick up information from a range of different employers and Higher Education providers, including The Avon and Somerset Police Force, Filton College and the University of the West of England.
The 2010 Year 7 cohort visited Goblin Coombe on a residential camp earlier in the Autumn Term. They took part in various outdoor and team building activities to help them build confidence and make new friends.
In July, our leaving Year 11 cohort were treated to a sightseeing trip of London. For some, it was the first time that they had visited the capital city.
In July, Oasis Academy Brightstowe held a Fun Run event in order to raise money for a memorial to former PE teacher Jim Tolman, who sadly passed away earlier this year.
Upon hearing the sad news that long-standing staff member Jim Tolman passed away on Tuesday 18th May aged 57, the Academy Hub team set up a room of reflection, to which students, staff and the local community paid tribute to the inspirational teacher
Seven students from Oasis Academy Brightstowe were nominated to win prizes for their outstanding achivements at a national awards event held by Academy sponsor Oasis Community Learning.
As part of our recent Business and Enterprise Day, Year 8 worked with the technology department to decorate easter egg characters and design jet-propelled vehicles in which to transport them.
Vincent and Flavia from Strictly Come Dancing came to lead the Year 7s in a dance workshop on Monday 29th March as part of a Business and Enterprise in Curriculum Day.
Academy staff and students have been involved in a range of events to support fairtrade fortnight and raise awareness of Stop The Traffik - the Academy's nominated charity.
Oasis Academy Brightstowe held a series of Digital Animation Workshops in the state-of-the-art ICT suites for Year 5 pupils of local primary schools. This particular session was run for pupils from Weston Park Primary.
Our Academy Bully Counsellors run drop-in sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays to provide support for any students who want to talk or see a friendly face.
On the 17th December, Oasis Academy Brightstowe held a Christmas market to conclude a programme of Business and Enterprise activities that ran during the Winter term.
