Oasis Academy Brightstowe is an independent Academy which means that we teach our own bespoke curriculum.
Key Stage 3, (Years 7, 8 & 9, 11 - 14 years)
We understand that the transition from primary school to secondary school is a big step. We support this transfer by teaching a competency-based curriculum in Year 7 which will ensure that students have the key skills and experience required to further their own learning across a range of curriculum areas.
Years 7 to 9 students follow the National Curriculum and our planning facilitates cohesion of learning from Years 7 to 11.
Key Stage 4, (Years 10 &11, 14 - 16 years)
As students move towards the KS4 examinations, opportunities will arise to enhance their studies through Academy partnerships, work experience programmes, and links with community providers.
In particular, our Academy specialisms of Mathematics and ICT, underpinned by Business and Enterprise, will prepare our students for further study and employment.
Students will leave this phase of their education with a portfolio of qualifications that are relevant to their individual talents and capabilities, including GCSE, BTEC, Diploma and a range of skills-based accreditation.
Post 16
A brand new sixth form will be opening in September 2010, headed up by Mr Woodville, Assistant Principal in charge of Post 16 Education.
In the run up to this date dedicated planning work will be undertaken. We are keen to implement a consultative process to ensure that we offer students the right courses for their future.
A list of courses available and entry requirements will be published nearer to the time of opening.
Aye mate! And welcome to limbo! Problem: I have no idea what page you're trying to work on. You need to define a body ID in the template, then turn on the necessary rows and columns in layout.css. Arrrrgh!
